GASLIFT AUTOMATED FACILITY TO CONTROL GAS FLOW BASED ON A GASLIFT METHOD OF OIL PRODUCTION
GASLIFT AUTOMATED CONTROL SYSTEM

INTRODUCTION

The gas lift production method is currently considered to be the most promising method of oil and gas production. It makes use of the energy saving technologies of oil production, based on the use of the natural energy carried by gas: oil associated gas, cap gas and fiery seam gas, using different gas lift techniques, both continuous and periodical.

In addition, compressor-free gas lift excludes the use of expensive compressors and consumption of electric energy necessary to drive them. The method may be especially effective for South Asian gas deposits, characterized by the high-pressure gas resources in the amounts that satisfy the demand for gas deposits in the perspective, and a higher gas-to-oil ratio of the well production, reaching 200 m3/ton and more.

As high-pressure gas sources, either existing or newly drilled gas wells can be used, as well as oil wells transformed into gas wells.

The Gaslift gas flow control system includes the following

tripping unit

measurement unit

gas flow control units

outlet units

automatic control units (controllers)

a distributed gas heating system, providing hydrate suppression in pipelines, valves and differential pressure gauge diaphragms

cluster security system

software

The number of units and modules depends on the cluster configuration and is to be agreed upon with the customer.

MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE GASLIFT AUTOMATED CONTROL SYSTEM

ADVANTAGES OF THE SYSTEM

A comprehensive and flexible nature of the system structure, allowing operating gas lift facilities in any configuration and easily transformable as new wells are included into the system or non-productive wells are excluded

Possibility of 100% use of the equipment with any number of wells contained in a cluster (from 1 to 15)

Possibility of using different modes of continuous and periodical gas lift, both compressor-free (the basic option) and compressor-based modes

Possibility of operation in an entirely autonomous automatic mode (an unmanned technology) with automatic well re-starting after stopping in an emergency situation (electric supply discontinuance, etc.)

Raising the well productivity and oil extraction rate due to optimization of oil production and cost reduction (2 – 5 times)

Recovery of productivity of inefficient wells

Simple and convenient assembly and disassembly, user-friendly maintenance and the related low maintenance costs

Sharp reduction in energy intensity

Sharp increase in the time between well overhauls

High competitive ability – low production cost (3-10 times lower than that of the existing similar systems), with the system being more technologically advanced, especially for operation in the Far North regions using the compressor-free gas lift technology

Possibility of joining an automated process control system with centralized remote control

Possibility of optimizing the operating modes of gas lift wells using software with the pre-set working rate

In the compressor-free option, the system does not require the obligatory use of gas separators, gas preparation and drying units and traditional gas heaters

The system makes use of a unique method and a device, patented by a Russian patent and foreign patents
